Client: NOLS Marketing Art Direction & Design: Liz Schultz
NOLS has campuses worldwide and I was assigned to create 3 unique t-shirts that featured the Scandinavia location. I focused my designs on three experiences students encounter while backpacking in the countries of Norway and Sweden.
The first is the iconic cairn, a stone structure, which marks the borders between the countries. Reindeer are a very common sighting while hiking in the tundra, and lastly is the well known U-Gate valley, a landmark feature which greets students upon arrival in Sweden.
Client: Wold/Textor Wedding Art Director: Bill Moran Designer: Liz Schultz
While working at Blinc Publishing, I branded and designed a client's wedding invitation. The wedding was held in St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN two cities on either side of the Mississippi River. The couple requested that the river be the theme of their special day. The end result was a sophisticated 7 piece letter pressed invitation set.
For my senior thesis project I created a fictional small business, Your Turn, that produces customized vinyl records. I was heavily inspired by the experience of playing and listening to records, which influenced the strong analog and print themes within the business.
Clients would stop by the shop and fill out a form describing their dream record album from type (33 or 45) to song choices and album artwork. Our team of engineers and designers would then create these special one of a kind records. Clients would receive a confirmation letter in the mail and a phone call when their album is complete. Supplementary items I created for the business included a lightbox sign for the storefront, a promotional screenprinted poster, and a record cleaning kit.
Essentially, I think it would be awesome to give someone a gift that is a mixed record of their favorite songs.
UW-Stout is known is a polytechnic university and has strong historical ties to the town's once booming lumber company. The materials of metal and timber allude to the campus's rich history, while the clean geometric lines lend a hand to the modern era. This project was completed during a Signage Design Course in which the students had to re-design UW-Stout's way-finding system.
Out of Print Campaign
Series of posters to help promote the non-profit Out Of Print, a company that encourages reading by printing classic book covers on tees and totes. The aim was to subtly add tee shirts into the classic cover illustrations, to promote the combination of literature and fashion.
